Shalom Backpackers Hostel Mussoorie

Stayed at Shalom Backpackers, Mussoorie, and overall had a good experience. The property is located right on Mall Road, making it very convenient to explore the nearby attractions. Since it’s on Mall Road, the area can get a bit crowded, but that’s expected. On our first day, we were allotted a basement room that had been closed after cleaning, so it had a slightly musty smell. We informed the staff, and they immediately responded by changing the bedsheets, blankets, and other bedding. Their quick action made the room much more comfortable, and we appreciated how promptly they handled the issue. A special mention to the person managing the café—he was extremely polite, friendly, and served some of the best food we had during our stay. The prices were very reasonable compared to the nearby cafés and restaurants, and the quality and taste were even better. Overall, the staff was helpful, the location was excellent, and the stay offered great value for money. If you’re looking for a clean, budget-friendly hostel in the heart of Mussoorie, Shalom Backpackers is definitely worth considering.

This hotel is a great choice if you love scenic views. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with large windows and balconies that let you enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is tasty. The best part is the peaceful atmosphere and amazing sunrise and sunset views. Now for my honest review. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. I booked my stay a day in advance and checked in around 6–7 PM, so the staff had more than enough time to prepare the room. But when I arrived, there were hairs all over the bed and even in the bathroom. It felt like the room hadn't been cleaned properly at all. I immediately informed the staff, but it still took them almost an hour to change the bedding. That was completely unexpected and disappointing. Cleanliness is the most basic thing any hotel or hostel should get right. If a property has enough time to prepare a room and still fails to clean it properly, it reflects poorly on their standards. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here if cleanliness is important to you. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.

The room is filthy with dusty floors and they haven't changed the blankets or sheets. When asked they said it's been raining and they couldn't do laundry. It is also priced way too much. 4.5k per night for deluxe room is definitely not worth it. There was no proper power backup. Also, the manger rings the door bell at 12 in the night to check if he alloted the right room to us the night before check out. Very unprofessional behaviour. It is conveniently located tho. The café food is good and priced decent. Views from café is good for this area.
