Had a 7 days stay here, and believe me when I say, it was the best. The property is in the prime location of anjuna, market is in walkable distance and open all night. But the USP they are having the person behind this property, RYAN, gem of a person. I didn’t feel I came solo even for a day. Great hospitality and nightlife in the common area. Parties happening every night, groups, solos, couples everyone joining each other for after party in the common area. It was a great time I spent there
Had an amazing stay at Shalom Backpackers, Anjuna! 🌴✨ The vibe here is exactly what you want in Goa—super chill, lively, and perfect for meeting new people from different places. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile, which made the stay even more comfortable. The hostel was clean, well-maintained, and had a great social atmosphere without feeling overwhelming. The location is also a huge plus—close to the beach and surrounded by the true Goa vibe. If you’re looking for a backpacker hostel with great energy, good people, and warm hospitality, this place is definitely worth it. Would love to stay here again! 💙
Shalom Backpackers, Anjuna – North Goa
Staying at Shalom Backpackers was also on our bucket list, as we wanted to experience living in a hostel with unknown people. So we decided to book here.
It is located in North Goa, in a quiet, rural-area property.
We booked 4 beds in a 10-bed mixed dorm during the Christmas season for a total of ₹1200, which was definitely worth the price.
The beds are comfortable, and parking is available.
Anjuna Beach and the Anjuna Flea Market are around 20 minutes away.
One thing to note: amenities like towels and locks are chargeable.
The bathroom is quite small and not as spacious as we expected.
There is no restaurant inside the property, but food can be ordered from outside, which is manageable.
Overall, it’s a good budget-friendly hostel for backpackers who want a social hostel experience in North Goa.
I had a wonderful experience staying at Shalom Backpackers, Anjuna! The place has such a warm and welcoming vibe the staff are super friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which makes you feel right at home. The hospitality and service were excellent everything was well-managed, clean, and comfortable. The atmosphere is perfect for meeting new people and relaxing, with a great mix of fun and peace.
Absolutely terrible experience at Shalom Backpackers.
The rooms are dirty, poorly maintained, and feel nothing like what’s shown in the photos online. Those pictures are either heavily edited or extremely outdated—what you get in reality is a complete downgrade.
The AC is a nightmare. It doesn’t work properly at all. Every 30 minutes it freezes up, then you’re stuck waiting 1–2 hours for it to melt before it runs again. Because of that, the room turns into a furnace. Sleeping was impossible. When I complained, Ryan (the owner/receptionist) casually said “it works this way” — which is honestly ridiculous. If your AC behaves like that, don’t advertise it as an AC room.
The building itself makes things worse—the roof seems to be made of some heat-trapping material, so the room gets unbearably hot even faster. Ironically, a non-AC place elsewhere would’ve been cooler.
The toilets are in horrible condition—dirty, poorly maintained, and extremely unhygienic. Drinking water didn’t feel safe either. Definitely not something you’d want to rely on.
Amenities are basically a joke. Pool table? Broken. Table tennis? Broken. Swimming pool? Filthy. One dip and you’ll probably walk out feeling sick instead of refreshed.
What’s even more frustrating is the attitude. Complaints are not taken seriously at all. There’s zero effort to fix anything or even acknowledge the issues properly.
Overall, this place is badly managed, misleading in its listings, and not worth your money. I had a really uncomfortable stay and would strongly NOT recommend it to anyone.
