Santa Maria Hostel Kovalam

The hostel is located 1 minute from the beach, which means all entertainment, food and facilities. Thanks to this, I saved a lot of time. I also visited the lighthouse and adored the view. I stayed in this hostel twice on different dates, first in the dorm, the second time in a private room. I was satisfied with everything, the staff is very attentive to the guests, no matter what I asked, it was fulfilled or decided. It was ideal on a budget because it included breakfast, mostly Indian cuisine, like dosa and chapati, on a festive day there were dishes with eggs, drinks included coffee and masala tea, as well as fruits, mostly bananas. They always helped me with local guidance and luggage. I recommend Santa Mari hostel with pleasure🙂.

I had one of the worst experiences at Santa Maria Hostel, Kovalam. We stayed here yesterday, and it was extremely disappointing. The biggest issue was that the AC in our room was not working at all. Despite paying for an AC room, we had to spend the night in an uncomfortable, hot room. On top of that, there was no water in the washroom for a significant period, making it impossible to use the toilet or take a shower properly. These are basic facilities that every guest expects, and they were simply unavailable. The room was not maintained well, and the overall experience was frustrating. It felt like the management did not care about the comfort of their guests. When you're paying for accommodation, at the very least you expect working air conditioning and a functioning water supply. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone unless they seriously improve their maintenance and customer service. There are plenty of better places to stay in Kovalam where your money will be worth it. Save yourself the inconvenience and book somewhere else.

The manager and staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. My flight arrived in the middle of the night, and the manager quickly arranged a taxi, which I really appreciated. The overall vibe was laid-back and relaxing, making for a comfortable stay. I also loved the simple, healthy breakfast. A small upgrade to the bed sheets would further enhance the experience.

Had such a wonderful experience at this hostel!!! From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm, clean, and beautifully maintained. What truly stood out was the staff. They were incredibly warm, polite, and always ready to help with a smile. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with great service and a relaxing vibe, this place is definitely worth it. Would love to visit again!

Great budget ..don't expect luxury. But 1 minute from beach and cafes restaurants everywhere. Tuk tuk 3 minutes away. Staff Mr Rahul and 2 others were just such great people and helped with whatever I asked. One day they emptied a coconut tree so was drinking and eating limitless juice! It is a place to unwind and also option of basic private room. Breakfast is included like a typical Indian dish or alternative of chapati veg sandwich and tea coffee. Purified water also available 24 7. It is a very old building with shower run on solar but for price was perfect for most travellers. I organised a boat trip to Poovar through hostel too which was amazingly beautiful day out. Lighthouse visit for great views of whole areas 5 minutes away Will be sorry to leave.
