Ostel is the best hostel ever. Firstly the property is stunning and the location is also very good. The best part however is the culture and warm vibes of the whole team. During my stay Aastha, Tara, Dinesh, Rishab and Aneesh made sure that i felt welcomed and everything was taken care off. It’s the perfect hostel to make new friends and memories. I would specially recommend it to solo and female travellers!
The mixed dorms were clean, spacious and felt safe. The beds were comfortable and clean. Despite frequent power cuts, the room didn't feel too stuffy. The lounge and other hang out spaces were well-maintained. The breakfast was good too. They let us keep our luggage at the property after checkout. But, be informed that for lockers, swimming pool access and other services require additional payment. The house rules seemed a bit overwhelming initially. For instance, we had to leave our footwear outside the room and the strict checkout policy. Make sure to read the house rules carefully. It was a good and safe stay overall. Would recommend for women whether you travel solo or in a group.
I had an amazing stay at this beachfront hostel! The location couldn’t be better—just steps from the sand with stunning ocean views that made every sunrise unforgettable. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, perfect for meeting other travelers while still having plenty of quiet spots to relax. The staff were super friendly and always ready with local tips. Everything was kept clean and comfortable, and I loved the open-air common areas where you could just chill with a coffee or share stories with new friends. If you’re looking for a mix of relaxation, community, and unbeatable scenery, this is the place. Can’t wait to come back! 🌊✨
A well-designed place and a brilliant choice if you want to stay for a couple of days. The sea view from the terrace is what we loved the most. Get some fresh pakoras from the local kitchen along with a black coffee, and it makes for a perfect evening. Food delivery services like Swiggy are also available if you’re staying longer and want more options. The staff are generally friendly, and the food is good. We especially loved the pakoras and shakshuka for breakfast. You can also enjoy fresh fish along the seashore if that’s something you like.
Ostel is literally a min from the Auroville - Pondicherry main road (please note it is not in Auroville as we had assumed). All the renowned cafes, etc are about 2- 2.4km, the Auroville visitors centre about 7.4km and White Town, Pondicherry about 7-8km. If you know how to ride a bike, bicycle or a car then I would highly recommend you to stay here as the place is clean, well kept, the staff very warm and welcoming, and it's very close to the beach. In terms of facilities - they have a lounge area with a TV and board games, a pool which is complimentary to use if you have booked through the website, a deck with a beach view for you to chill/do yoga, and every bed in the dorm has a personal reading light and a charging station. The only thing that I would say is a con - is the flow of water in the washroom taps.
