Mitra McLeodganj is one of the most memorable stays in my Dharamshala/McLeodganj trip. The location is super convenient—walking distance from cafes, shops, Dalai Lama Temple and local attractions. The rooftop views of the mountains are unreal and perfect for chilling in the evenings. The staff consistently get praise for being warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, making guests feel at home rather than just customers. The common areas are welcoming and great for meeting fellow travelers, and the rooms (especially dorms) are clean, comfortable and value-for-money. Many guests also mention a cute hostel cat and the overall friendly vibe as highlights. Highly recommended for solo travelers and groups alike—it gives you that classic Himalayan hostel experience with comfort and community
Mitra Hostel is a very nice and comfortable place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s a great option for budget travelers. I would definitely stay here again!
I loved the stay at Mitra. The host was very helpful and kind. I have made a few great friends over here. The amenities were good. The rooftop dining cafe has an amazing view and tasty food. Definitely check it out.
Dorms got cobwebs. Washroom have spiders. If there was an option to upload pictures I would have. Kitchen food is bad. Nacho with salsa & Nacho chaat never available, masala peanut is the worst. You are not allowed to eat at the common room, so one got to take food outside in the middle of night to eat in cold winter weather, which results in food getting frozen. No common microwave or kettle for hot water in winter. Management is rude, they dont let you use their mobile chargers, one got to climb down,3 floors to get charger from dorm. Owner literally shouted and pointed finger on me when I denied free social media promotion, he really need to learn about customer management. One of the worst dorm experience ever. One can make a dorm but can't create environment like Zostel or Go Stops.
My 3-day stay at Mitra Hostel (a.k.a Mitra 2.0) was cozy. Mitra offers both hotel rooms and forms at economical prices. There is a common space for guests to sit and chill on the ground floor, and a cafe on the terrace. PS: Your visit will be graced by Billu, the resident friendly orange cat. He made my stay extra special!
