Madpackers Manali

I have never had such a disappointing experience on any of my solo trips. Unfortunately, this property failed to meet even the basic expectations of a hostel stay. I stayed in the female dormitory, and apart from the bed, almost everything else was unsatisfactory. The bedside light was not working, the lockers had no locks, the bathroom had water drainage issues, and the overall lighting in the dorm was inadequate. The room was not properly cleaned, and we had to repeatedly inform the staff about the same issues before any action was taken. As a female solo traveller, I found the property particularly concerning from a safety perspective. There was often no one at the reception, which made the place feel unattended and insecure. The location is offbeat but if you return late at night, you’ll find deserted roads with little to no lighting or people around, making the surroundings feel isolated and unsafe. Additionally, the property lacks basic amenities such as an in-house restaurant and laundry service, resulting in a very dull and lifeless atmosphere. I had heard great things about Madpackers and booked this property based on its positive reviews, which made this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this stay has left me with a negative impression of the brand. I would not choose to stay at another Madpackers property in the future, nor would I recommend this one to fellow travellers.

Old Manali Hostel, place with good locations. Nearby to Hostelam, Zostel and Hosteller, Komal Dhaba. On the way, there is a beautiful volleyball court. Garden space and backpacker style. Would love to visit again for the views.

Please don't go with the rating. Worst experience, this is second time in Madpackers, I came along with my wife. I am totally disappointed by experience. Caretaker don't bother to look of your basic needs. If feels like the caretaker is on vaction, enjoying on our money. I asked him to arrange some firewood, he said I will do when I will be available. What is this, we are guest not you. The experience which I am sharing on that time, hardly two three guest will be there. No hot water, no tea coffe, feels like living in lockdown, no proper lighting. I called the owner to report all this, they don't bother to pick up the call

This has been the worst hostel i ever been to by far. Mold on the walls near beds, extremely dirty pillow, stains on the bed sheets, animals crawling in the toilet and the bedroom. I asked the staff to change room and after laughing between each other they gave me one that was exactly in the same conditions. It is supposed to be from the Madpacker chain but all the insignia has been taken off so this is an outright scam.

It's alright but I realised it's not for me. It's very nonchalant . When I checked in, the blanket provided had hair of other girls. I don't think they wash it as frequently as they should or atleast dust it to remove all the stuck hair. Beds are SO CLOSE to each other. Please keep some gap. And no natural light. The light has to be kept on all day.
