I stayed at Shiv Shakti Hostel in Rishikesh and strongly advise others not to book this place.
On arrival, the receptionist didn’t even ask for any ID proof. No Aadhaar, no verification, nothing. This is a basic security protocol in any hotel or hostel, and skipping it raises serious safety concerns for guests.
There was a water dispenser placed outside the room which remained empty the entire day despite repeated requests to have it filled.
The biggest issue, however, was the complete lack of water supply. In the morning, while I was in the middle of a shower with soap in my hair, the water stopped. When we informed the reception, we were told the tank would be filled in 10–15 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes, there was still no water. We reminded them again and were told “5 minutes more,” but nothing changed.
At that point, I had no option but to leave the hostel and go to another place just to take a bath.
I went to MP(hope you understand)Rishikesh ,where the staff, despite me not being a guest, allowed me to use their common washroom without hesitation. The contrast in basic hospitality and guest care was shocking.
When I returned and informed the receptionist at Shiv Shakti Hostel that I had to go elsewhere just to bathe, his response was: “Achhi baat hai.” That level of indifference says everything about how this place is run.
A hostel that cannot ensure water supply, ignores repeated requests, and shows this kind of attitude toward guests is not worth staying at.
I recently stayed at Shiv Shakti Hostel in Rishikesh, and unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations.
We had booked a room for three people, and the receptionist, Ankit, clearly promised us an extra mattress along with proper room cleaning. However, neither of these commitments was fulfilled. I personally reminded him four separate times, but nothing was done. Frustrated, I even called the number listed on their website, and although the person assured me that he would follow up with Ankit, there was still no action taken.
The overall condition of the hostel was very disappointing. The property was dirty and poorly maintained. There was no proper water availability, which made things even more inconvenient. Inside the room, we found rice scattered on the floor, used shampoo sachets lying around, and an extremely unhygienic washroom. It gave a very careless and unprofessional impression.
Due to heavy rain outside, we had no choice but to adjust for the night despite the uncomfortable conditions. Otherwise, we would have definitely looked for another place immediately.
It’s also unclear where the owner stands in all of this. Either there is no supervision at all, or the management has completely neglected the property. It feels like the place is being run without any accountability, and if this continues, it will only further damage the reputation of the hostel.
Overall, I would not recommend this property to anyone. There are far better and more hygienic options available in Rishikesh.
The hostel is not well maintained and as soon as I entered the reception, I regretted my decision. The room was not ready by the check in time and I had to roam around for 1-2 hrs to get the room ready.
The walls of the hostel were so damp that it smelled the whole time. When I entered the room, the tap in the bathroom kept leaking.
The only positive was the location which is super convenient for anyone who does not have a vehicle. There is no parking as the hostel is in a very narrow lane so please plan accordingly.
If you are looking for a clean and safe hostel in Rishikesh, Shiv Shakti Hostel is a top choice. The dormitories are highly hygienic and well-maintained, while the private rooms offer a very cozy and comfortable stay. The rooftop area and the social atmosphere here make the entire experience even more special
Recently me and my friends booked doom at shiv shakti hostel . Our stay was very very good specially rajat bhaiya behaviour was very humble polite and cheerful. Service was good enough and worth of the prices we pay if anyone want to book a hostel you can consider it. Overall a soothing and comfortable experience.
