We visited Shalom Backpackers in Udaipur, and the staff there were absolutely wonderful. One staff member, HONEY, stood out—he was incredibly kind and provided prompt service. The atmosphere was fantastic, offering a lovely view of the lake; the scenery became even more stunning at night. HONEY was a huge help, not only with the hotel services but also by guiding us around the local area. Every hotel needs a staff member like him. He was so friendly that it didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time; he is a truly awesome guy and the backbone of the hotel. Everyone should have such a great nature. Thank you for the service, and a special thanks to honey for his wonderful attitude and for guiding us as if we were new friends.
Stayed here for three days, booked a private room. The location of the guest house is perfect, the roof top is the most beautiful part of the guest house. The rooms/bathrooms could be a little cleaner. The service was also a tad bit slow, our room didnt have a main lock. We asked them multiple times finally got the lock on the last day. We had to leave our door unlocked all the time. Basic housekeeping- toilet/dustbin cleaning on regular basis was not done inspite of telling them. Rest it was fine.
Don't trust the reviewDon’t buy into the good reviews—it’s clear this hotel is just a secondary side hustle for them, given their complete lack of sincerity or care for their guests.
We had a nightmare of an experience. We booked a superior room for two nights but ended up packing our bags and walking out after just one. They couldn’t even cover the absolute basics—no tissue rolls, no AC remote, and a dirty room.
When we checked in, the AC was practically just a wall ornament. To make matters worse, the room was left dirty with all over hairs on the floor,used empty water bottles, a half-empty body wash bottle, filthy carpets, and a bathroom floor covered in leftover hair. To top it off, the next morning, scalding hot water was running through the flush, the health faucet, and the washbasin.
When we raised these issues, their response was a completely dismissive, "Don't worry, we won't give you a chance to complain after this." I told them straight out that we no longer expected anything from them anyway. Even after that, nobody bothered to show up or address the issues.
We couldn't take it anymore, so we grabbed our luggage and booked a room at Jiwana Haveli for the exact same price. We handed back the keys after enduring what they call a "stay."
They completely ruined our trip. It was filthy, unhygienic, and backed by nonexistent management. I would strongly advise everyone to stay far away from this place.s
Stayed here with a group of 10 friends. Overall experience was good. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was polite and helpful. Check-in was smooth and everything was managed well for our group. Special thanks to Shristy at the reception for her support. Had a nice stay and would recommend for groups as well.
It was totally a 10/10 experience to stay at shalom bagpackers.
