Moustache Shoja

The location is surreal. It’s quite secluded so travelling here early morning or late evening can be scary. The place was decent but a bit pricey. One of the staff person who took the money for the room and handed us the keys was a bit off putting. We had travelled all day to get there and as soon as we reached there he gave us a list of house rules blah blah blah in a very RUDE tone. We had a few questions about the timings of a nearby trek and he was the least bit interested in answering or helping in any way! Voltage issue is no joke. Phone charger wasn’t working in the room because of “voltage issues” but their cafeteria and reception voltage seemed fine (ykwim) so our group had to charge our phones at the reception. Jaani’s cafe had the vibes! The food, ambience and overall experience was decent. Rooms were pretty although they looked bigger in their website pictures. Overall it is a pretty place. (With a rude male receptionist) and a decent cafe.

The biggest positives are the location, atmosphere, and entertainment. The property is situated in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature, and the overall environment is excellent. The live music, karaoke sessions, and singer created a wonderful ambiance and made the evenings enjoyable. However, I felt the hotel is quite expensive for what it offers, especially at around very expensive ₹3,000 per person. Basic amenities that guests generally expect were missing. There were no complimentary water bottles, slippers, or several other standard room essentials. Hot water availability was also limited to specific hours in the morning and evening, which was inconvenient. The food was another disappointment. Most dishes were below expectations. The chicken preparations were particularly poor. The only items I genuinely enjoyed were the thin-crust pizza and the peanut masala. Overall, the location and entertainment deserve appreciation, but the hotel needs significant improvement in guest amenities and food quality to justify its pricing

The rooms very neat and clean. We were a group of 30 people but the hosts handled our chaos very well. It is a beautiful and peaceful location. The hosts are helpful and quite accomodative for changes. They also recommended travel in and around the locality. The hostels were well maintained. We had hot water 24/7. The food is also really well made for this location.

One of my favourite places in Himachal has been Shoja and now, even more because of Moustache. It has become my go-to wherever I go because of the experiences I get to have there. Jaani’s café - hot chocolate and ginger lemon honey are a must tries. Plus, don’t miss out on exploring the village with them. Take the forest and river walks, they calm you down like nothing else. I’m gonna recommend it to everyone and definitely be back later this year. Thank you for a 10/10 experience.

I recently stayed at Moustache Shoja for two days, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The property itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious throughout my stay, but I have to especially mention the hot chocolate—it was incredibly good and easily one of the highlights of my visit. The staff made the experience even better. The volunteers were warm, friendly, and always ready to help. The manager was also excellent—very approachable, communicated clearly, and spoke with great kindness and professionalism. Overall, everything from the hospitality to the food and ambiance was top-notch. I would highly recommend Moustache Shoja to anyone visiting the area. Whether you plan to stay for one night, two nights, or even longer, it’s definitely worth it.
