Haust Varkala

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. What an amazing hostel, at an amazing location and beautiful, generous hosts! I was staying in a mixed dorm, it was maintained, it was clean. The hosts helped me find recreational activities, scooty and they were just there to help make the stay comfortable. If you are visiting Varkala, trust me, this should be your go to hostel. Thanks again to the beautiful hosts :)

A big part of what makes the stay special is the warm and attentive management. Santosh, the manager, deserves special mention for going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. He’s approachable, genuinely helpful, and always ready with local tips, recommendations, or simply a friendly conversation. His presence adds a personal touch that elevates the entire experience. What truly sets Haust Varkala apart is its community vibe. The place naturally brings people together—through shared spaces, activities, and everyday interactions. Whether it’s joining fellow travelers for yoga, beach walks, local explorations, or casual evening chats, the community here makes you feel supported and included. Overall a pleasant stay ✨ dorms and bathrooms are very cosy, clean and there is a spacious locker. I slept so well with AC and fan and also you won’t hear any noise from outside!! I felt safe and the receptionist were always nice and friendly. The only thing was the location. It is a bit of a walk towards a cliff or beach. If you don’t mind walking or you have a scooter you will enjoy it 😊

I had booked the private room for 2 days and it has all that a solo female traveller needs, ambient light, amazing full mirror, neat and clean washroom....! Had a wonderful experience, cherry on the top - hosts are super helpful to guide you itenary with local contacts for means of transport and other activities. Female dorms are clean too!!

I had an amazing stay at Haust. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are also very clean! We had a cooking night with everyone at the hostel and it was delicious. I definitely recommend this place!!
